Ich bin Chiara von Galli - Schauspielerin, Fotografin (und gelegentlich auch Personal Trainerin).

 

Ich stand mit sieben zum ersten Mal an einem Filmset und wollte da nicht mehr weg. Meine Eltern intervenierten nicht, also blieb ich Schauspielerin. 

 

Ursprünglich aus Bayern... aber durch mein Auswandern auf ein englisches Internat mit dreizehn, gefühlt heimatlos. 

Momentan wohne ich in Berlin - Schauspielschule hab ich in London gemacht. 

 

Seit fünfzehn Jahren halte ich Kameras in der Hand (habe das auch mal zwei Jahre gelernt) und habe immer mal wieder überlegt, beruflich dahinter zu bleiben: 

Kamerafrau, Regisseurin, so halt. Dafür bin ich aber auf Dauer wahrscheinlich zu exhibitionistisch und zu eitel.

Inzwischen bin ich dazu übergegangen, nur noch Teilzeit hinter der Kamera zu sein. Ist für alle das Beste. 

 

Viele SchauspielerInnen und KünstlerInnen stehen (und tanzen) jetzt seit Jahren vor meiner Linse. 

Durch ihre Wandelbarkeit, Leichtigkeit und Offenheit begreifen sie den Prozess des Fotografierens als ein kindliches Spiel.  

Geht also auch immer um Spaß. Um gute Momente, die überraschend für alle sind. 

 

Ich mag schöne Menschen, keine Frage, aber die klassische Schönheit interessiert mich dabei nicht. 

Manchmal haben Leute eine genaue Vorstellung von sich. Hier wird es oft interessant und aufregend. 

Man kann spielerisch und lustvoll ein paar Grenzen austesten. Tut meistens gar nicht weh. Ist eher lustig. 

Jeder Quatsch wird bei mir erstmal gemacht. Überlegt wird hinterher. No risk, no story.

I’m Chiara von Galli - Actress, photographer (and sometimes personal trainer).

 

The first time I stood on a film set was when I was seven years old. From that point on I didn’t want to leave, my parents didn’t intervene and I kept being an actress. 

 

Originally I’m from Bavaria but, due to my leaving the country to attend an English barding school when I was thirteen, I feel like I belong everywhere and nowhere all at once.

Currently I live in Berlin but went to drama school in London. 

 

About fifteen years ago I picked up my first camera and, since then (having had about two years in which I was taught how to use it), have had a fair few moments of considering staying behind it as a job:

Camerawoman, directress, that kind of thing. But honestly, I’m probably a little too vain and exhibitionistic to not be in front of it. So that’s what I do: I act and only part time I shoot. 

 

Many actors, actresses and artists in general now stand (and dance) in front of my lense. Due to their transformability, effortlessness and openness, they seem to see the process of being photographed as a childlike game. It’s about having fun and finding surprising moments. 

 

I love beautiful people, no doubt, but I’m not interested in the conventional sense of beauty. 

Sometimes people have a very precise image of themselves. This is where it gets interesting. I try to, playfully, push a couple of boundaries. It’s not scary, mostly just fun. We’ll give anything a go and think about it later. No risk, no story.
